- Approving the design and production for all fixed and rotary wing aircraft manufactured or modified within the FAA Southwest Region.

Safety Rating Concept for Design and Equipment
De FAA heeft een witboek geschreven waarin een concept wordt beschreven ter bevordering van een intuïtief, vrijwillig hulpmiddel voor het onderzoeken van het veiligheidsniveau voor zes verschillende categorieën van ontwerp en uitrusting van rotorcraft. Het concept werd aan de industrie verstrekt voor verdere ontwikkeling. Het concept is bedoeld om belanghebbenden bij rotorcraft beter te informeren en op te voeden en tegelijkertijd meer vrijwillige uitrusting tot hogere veiligheidsniveaus te bevorderen.
